It has been quite the summer and fall is on our door steps. Less than a week ago, August 16,2012 My life changed when my Mom went home to heaven after a very quick battle with colon cancer. The cancer was the final blow to her body that had many other health issues. Yet, she never complained.
This is a season with mourning our loss of her on our earthly journey, but a season of Joy at her no longer suffering with health issues that limited her.
I am so going to miss my Mom, she was one of my best friends.
In this sadness we are gifted with wonderful memories and the legacy of her life lessons...they were many! We can look forward to a spring that gives us hope and new life...Our oldest son and his wife our expecting a baby at the end of March.
Life will go on, it is best to savor all the delicious good times we are blessed with and live every day one day at a time. We will mourn and we will be sad...but at some point we can replace the sadness with the sweet memories and good moments. In this changing of seasons we can go on. We can get through the winter because we have experienced the spring.
This is a new experience for a ol' gal like myself.... sharing my thoughts, likes, and life in a blog

Summer
Summer is midway over :( but it has been a blast! I can not remember when we had this much fun. We even did something crazy and went out and bought a pair of motorcycles. Al and our boys continue to patiently teach me how to ride it.
This weekend we will be picking up Kate and Bella to come to our place for a week. On the agenda is a camping trip at their great grandma Discher's and visiting our local county fair. I love when those two little ladies come to visit, hopefully the weather will stay nice for us.
Speaking of weather, the garden has been great this year and so far I hardly have had to water it. We are so enjoying the raised beds that we are going to add two more next year! We're also investing in better fencing. Tim and Anna recommended rabbit guard, and that is probably what we are going to get. It is so disheartening to see beautiful plants and vegetables enialated over night. It's not just one plant it's an entire row! The raise gardens seem to be working though, cross my fingers they don't figure out how to get in there.
Well, much to do today, so signing off now...God bless this day and make it a your own.

Did some Big things popping today!
We tried to transfer the motorcycle and get plates for it...needed to have vin numbers so we will try again tomorrow:(
isted the Pointe view winery and tasted many samples before purchasing three bottles...my favorite was the rhubarb strawberry and the reisling. We had lunch at A&W coney dogs and rootbeer floats.
Shaun showed us his favorite hobby store where you can spend zillions on your rc car.
spent a lot of time and money at walmart. $74. for the battery and then 5 quarts of oil and filter to change the oil. I did however find my North Dakota hoodie for only 22$
We are not yet sure where we are heading for when we leave here. Yellowstone seems just to far.
Maybe we will simply head south to Montana and see some things there before heading for home.
Let me know if you have some trip ideas the only criteria is that it should be under 6 hours of driving.
I know its going to be sad to leave here but Colie and Shaun our hoping to head home for July 4th so that will be nice.

We took off on a great adventure...This is one of my favorite new songs by Steven Curtis Chapman. Funny thing is that is just what we did,we are on a great adventure. As we celebrate a bit early our 35th wedding anniversary (June 25), we are traveling on a road trip vacation.
The trip started Saturday June 16th, at 5:00 am. with only 4 or so stops we drove over 450 miles in 9 hours. We rolled into Burlington,North Dakota, which is only a hop, skip or jump away from Minot.
Our first night was pretty fun, even though we were a couple of tired ol pups, Our son Shaun and his girl friend along with several of their friends and friends families threw us an awesome Luua. The food was delicious and we played polish golf and batmitten till bout 9 pm when we could not fight the tiredness anymore.
Yesterday we traveled through Minot with Shaun and Colie. There's a huge mall here and we took it all in. Al found a great pair of sandals at payless shoes which Shaun bought for him for fathers day. We went to several thrift stores and played games at an arcade. Together we managed to earn 300 points and purchased a pair of black fuzzy dice for Shaun...I figure those dang dice costed us 11.00$
For dinner we went to Grizzly's where Al and I split a prime rib dinner. We ordered the smore party too which was so fun! you get all the fixings for 6 smores plus carmel and chocolate sauce. They bring a little pot of fire to your table with all the fixings on a tray, and you cook your smores right at the table. It was only 5$ too. We stayed up late with a campfire that was fun too.
Today we are going to the water park...how fun will that be? I have to find a hoodie too one that has North Dakota on it. ...more to come.

And it rained, and rained, and, that's right, it rained some more
It is 7:30 pm and it has been storming for 3-4 solid hours now. We need the rain, but not the wind and thunder. I am actually glad that it rained today and not yesterday though. Yesterday, Scott, Angie, Bella, Kate, and even Rosie came to Mora for a afternoon visit.
We grilled chicken and fresh Pineapple. (Angie told me about grilling fresh pineapple, it is delicious, who knew?) We did some walking around our block, and took out the honda 125 for a bit. Then Scott and Angie went to see the movie "Mirror, Mirror), while Al and I and the girls, went to the park. We went to McDonalds too, where we enjoyed 59 cent chocolate ice cream cones.
Today we had church, then I went to the gym for a bit. ( to try and work off some of that ice cream). I got a lot of meal cooking and baking done for the week ahead.
It's going to be a busy week too...I took on a third job till the end of school. So I have something every single day of the week. except for Saturday and Sunday.
I suppose I should stop blogging now and go make my lunch then lay out my clothes for tomorrow.

New Spaces from Old Places
There is a change in the air. The grass is greening up and the natives are getting restless! The familiar spaces beg for change as I thumb through the decorating ideas in magazines and internet...aka pintrest. Everything I look at becomes a blank canvas in need of my imagination and creative touch. Complacity is not good, we need to evolve from the comfortable to the wow factor.
So yesterday after a dizzy spell that sent me reeling...touch of flu, allergies? not sure what that was about, but let myself get some rest. Then, totally energized, I began to dig out. I dug out the deck table and chairs from the potting shed. The benches from the screenhouse. I even dug out some flower pots to get the seeds started towards blooming.
Then I decided it was time to dig out the basement. Al had rearranged some furniture and other items in the basement for more convienence to the corn stove. I got it back in order and filled my plant starting shelf with some new items. There is still much more planting to do, but I realized I need more plant starter trays and cells.
It is going to be 70 today, that is crazy for March 22, it is also what is spurring me on. At this rate, we are going to be mowing the grass by next week. Hopefully Anna and Tim will bring back the tiller soon so we can get some more garden space ready. Even though we are doing the new raised garden I still need to have the old garden space just for pumpkins, squash and some tomatoes...all things that need space to sprawl.
Well enough blogging for me for now. We are heading to Isle today for Saturday morning outting then I am working my support staff job till supper time, so I best get my regular house stuff done early.

March rain brings April Flowers?
This awesome weather and cleansing rain, works for me. I am sooooo darn eager to get to the garden. It won't be long (under 50 days) before school is out and I want to be ready.
Meanwhile, on this rainy Monday night. I made some delicious granola....It started with a recipe and then deviated with what I had and liked. So here it is...
Grab and go granola
3 cups old fashioned oats
1/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup molasses
1 teas vanilla extract
1/4 teas cinnamon
2 cups of your favorite add ins...heres mine: sliced almonds,Special K cinnamon pecan cereal, golden flax seed, dried cranberries,
Instructions
1 preheat oven 325
line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment I used foil
2 whisk together oil, honey, molasses, cinnamon pour over oats and toss well
3 spread mixture on baking sheet bake 20 minutes or until golden brown, stirring every 5 minutes
I pressed warm mixture into an oiled glass deep pie plate so I could cut it into bars
Last step...ENjoy!
store in airtight container for up to 2 weeks....like it will last for 2 weeks without being scarfed down?
This is a delicious snack with chamomile tea with Honey

Think Spring!
With temps in the upper 70's it is hard to remember that we could get a major snow storm at any given moment...So I say, Savor every moment & think of the things to come.
I am so eager to start & organize my seeds, but time is not allowing for anything but work, commitments and sleep. Hopefully this week will be better. There is less on my calendar and We have some rain days forecasted too, which will keep me indoors.
I was at an all day womens retreat at church yesterday where we visited facebook and pintrest. Oh dang you, Pintrest...you stir up all my creative juices and send me on a mission of decorating and design. Now I got the bug to paint several rooms, rip out carpeting and add wood floors. Oh yeah don't forget the gardening ideas...I'm going to need a separate journal just to keep all the ideas straight....curse you internet!
And Thank you too XOXO
Got to go it's time to get planning

Snow Day!!!
It's February 29th...Leaping day! and it's also a SNOW DAY....This is our first and hopefully last snow event day of the year.
I woke up at 5 am, per my usual routine. Got the text message at 5:30 that school would be 2 hours late...10 minutes later...SCHOOL CLOSED. Looking out my window today, I would say good call.
So why did I not go back to bed? Simple silly, I have all the day now to sleep if I want to.
Instead I creatively updated this blog, to a more spring like feel. Made my packing list for my weekend retreat which starts Friday night, and had an awesome breakfast of bacon and eggs.
Don't worry my workout buddy's aka "skinny girl club", I have all day to exercise too:)
Okay, I'm done blogging time to start the "TO DO TODAY" list.

Bitten by the spring bug!
Ouch! have I ever been bitten by the bug for Spring! Now I have Spring Fever. the problem is the forecasted winter storm for tomorrow and 24 hours after. Yup, they are forcasting 17" to 20" God definitely has a sense of humor.
My car is still broke from the 5-6 inches we got last week that tore through the under side of my
mini-van doing who knows what kind of damage. It left me with a engine icon light on and who knows what.
I need some 40 to 50 degree weather, some me time, and longer days of sunlight. As much as I love my Mom, I need a break from her caregiving needs. 24/7 adds up fast and two months gets to feeling like a long time.
Well, I hope this is the last storm of the season, oh sure you say!
I am in need of Spring and now.

Simply Sick of being Sick!
It has been 3 days now, since I woke up at 5:30 am being sicker than a dog! I ran a fever for two days straight, which gave me lovely chills, shakes, and body aches...not to mention some very interesting dreams.
Talked to the doc last night and am going to start an antibiotic and mucinex today...hopefully this will help me kick it. I was absolutely lethargic yesterday, sleeping some 16 hours.
But today is a new day, and even though I can't get my nose to stop dripping and I occassionally cough up some really nasty stuff, I do feel a tad on the side of recovery. At least I am conscious and verticle!

Time to say Good bye :(
The Holidays are over, and it's back to work tomorrow. Shaun and Colie bought themselves a new camper and semi while they were home over the holidays. Today we had a lunch of homemade pepperoni pizza at Anna's and then said goodbye as they headed back to ND. They have a 9 hour drive ahead of them....Shaun kept trying to convince Colie she could take over the driving on the last half...lol
Shaun & Colie fully loaded and ready to roll in the Volvo
